A token governed by the Sun

SunFire is a Solana token whose supply is governed by the Sun. Solar flares and geomagnetic storms recorded by NOAA's GOES satellites trigger buybacks and burns on-chain, run by a public program on Solana.

Mechanism

How a flare becomes a burn

  1. The Sun eruptsGOES satellites measure solar X-ray flux every minute. NOAA classifies each flare from A to X on a logarithmic scale.
  2. The reading goes on-chainThe SunFire keeper reads the NOAA GOES feed and publishes the reading on Solana. Each reading is stored with its time, so anyone can check it against NOAA's public data.
  3. The program checksThe program verifies the flare class or storm level, refuses events it has already processed and fixes the size of the burn.
  4. Buyback and burnThe SunFire keeper spends exactly that amount from the burn vault to buy $SFIRE through Jupiter, then the program burns every token bought.
Burn schedule

Bigger events, bigger burns

EventThresholdBurn vault usedFrequency
M-class≥ 10⁻⁵ W/m²1–5 %Several per month in active periods
X-class≥ 10⁻⁴ W/m²10–25 %Rarer as the solar cycle declines
StormKp ≥ 8 · G4–G530–50 %Rare. Auroras at mid-latitudes

Each amount is drawn within its range from recent on-chain data at the moment the event is confirmed.

The program reads the highest X-ray flux of the last 6 hours, so flares less than 6 hours apart count as one burn event.

Trust model

What the program enforces

Transparent fee split

Trading fees are split on-chain: 50 % to the burn vault owned by the program, 50 % to the development wallet. The burn share can only leave the vault through a buyback and burn. Tokens in holders' wallets are never touched.

Fair launch

SunFire launches with no team allocation and no presale, so there is no hidden supply waiting to be sold.

One event, one burn

Every event is recorded on-chain, and the program refuses duplicates. The keeper that executes buybacks can only spend the exact amount the program fixed.

Limits

What to know

  • Solar Cycle 25 peaked around 2024–2025. X-class flares will become less frequent in the coming years. M-class flares remain common.
  • NOAA readings are published by the SunFire keeper. They can be checked against NOAA, but the program trusts the keeper to report them faithfully.
  • Events are detected from the GOES X-ray flux itself, not from NOAA's final flare classification.
  • Burn amounts are derived from recent on-chain data, not yet from verifiable randomness.
  • SunFire is an experimental token. Nothing on this site is financial advice.
